A small destination club that never grew much past the launch stage, Destinos Exclusivos targeted the upper crust of the Mexican demographic. Formed in 2004, the club looked to translate the highly successful destination club model to its clientele in Mexico.

Looking to focus on its Mexican audience, resort real estate and luxury vacation homes in some of Mexico's finest areas were targeted, including Marina Real and Ixtapa, very similar to the model utilized by Signature Destinations. The club augmented their Latin focus with properties in New York and Miami, according to their website.

Unfortunately, the potential audience failed to emerge and the club faded into the history of the destination club industry.

With clubs emerging all over the world, it is only a matter of time before another enters the Mexico market, looking to further the progress that Destinos Exclusivos started during the early generation of destination clubs.

Where it fits in the archive

Destinos Exclusivos was one of the few clubs in this archive built for buyers outside the United States and Canada. Its plan, homes at Marina Real and Ixtapa plus city residences in New York and Miami, borrowed from Signature Destinations, which the archive credits with building a portfolio around homes members could reach easily.

Mexico itself was never short of club homes. Los Cabos turns up in the portfolios of Quintess, the LUSSO Collection, Equity Estates and M Private Residences. Those clubs sold Mexico as a destination to North American members; Destinos Exclusivos tried to sell the club itself to Mexicans, and the buyers did not come.

The original file names no founders, prices or member counts, and we found no later public record of the club. It sits with the folded clubs in the directory, next to the start-ups described in Failure To Launch.
